Seventy-five years ago, Article 3, Paragraph 2 of our Constitution enshrined gender equality and its promotion by the state. Where do we stand today?
🎧 The Bavarian State Women’s Council (BayLFR) spoke with Alexandra Zykunov for their podcast, author of the book *”What More Do You Want?!,”* in which she highlights 19(!) gender gaps.
BayLFR: “She illustrates the inequalities in pay, healthcare, urban planning, and much more—even the prescribed hedge height is not gender-equitable. In conversation with Barbara Streidl, she discusses the costs that society as a whole has to bear. She talks about the to-do list that needs to be worked through to achieve true equality. A deep exchange on injustices, the role of Article 3, Paragraph 2 of the Basic Law, and the demands for a just future.”
📢 At the summer reception of FidAR Frauen in die Aufsichtsräte e.V. and BayLFR – “75 Years of the Basic Law. Where Do We Stand Today?” – Prof. Ursula Männle, former member of the Bundestag, Bavarian State Minister for Federal Affairs, and long-time advocate for women’s rights, also spoke. “She captivatingly described the journey of women from being ornamental accessories in the Bonn Republic to the confident female politicians of today.” For the future, Männle wishes for parity in all political bodies. However, she also expressed concerns: “I have serious doubts that what we’ve achieved will suddenly be called into question. (…) What is once lost is very difficult to regain.” She calls for: “More solidarity among women and the support of men, because we can’t do it alone.”
🌟 Prof. Ursula Männle also delivered an impressive keynote at this year’s herCAREER@Night.
