Journalist

Andrea Rexer most recently led corporate communications at HypoVereinsbank, a subsidiary of UniCredit. Her team covers internal and external communications, social media, institutional affairs, and cultural & social engagement.

Previously, Andrea Rexer worked for many years as a journalist, most recently as the Head of the Companies and Markets department at Handelsblatt. She spent many years at Süddeutsche Zeitung, first as a correspondent and bureau chief in Frankfurt. Later, she led the finance team at SZ’s headquarters in Munich, and she passionately helped shape the editorial work of the women’s business magazine PLAN W. The magazine aims to highlight women who excel in what they do and become role models for others. She has won several journalism awards, including the Ludwig Erhard Prize for economic journalism. In 2014, with the prestigious Burns Fellowship, she worked for three months at the Canadian online platform “The Tyee” in Vancouver.

In addition to her career, she is a passionate mentor for young talents and hosts the podcast “Values and Leadership” for the Values Commission (Wertekommission e.V.), where personalities from various sectors of society discuss lived values and when standing by these values can be uncomfortable. She also moderates events in both German and English, including the WebSummit in Lisbon, one of the largest digital conferences with 60,000 participants, as well as the SZ Economic Summit and the Handelsblatt Automotive Summit. In 2017, she moderated a series of public debates with the top candidates of parliamentary parties in Vienna ahead of the Austrian national elections. She has also appeared several times as a guest on TV talk shows.
