Diana Wiedmann
Chief Human Resources OfficerDrees & Sommer, Stuttgart
Change will happen even faster in the future. If we don’t want to be thrown off course, we need to adapt—and this applies to all aspects of inclusion. Diana Wiedmann, CHRO at Drees & Sommer, is convinced of this! She also says: “I stand for the human aspect in business—[…] for employees, but also externally, in our people strategy.”
Many companies claim to follow a people-centered approach. But implementation often falls short. The reason? “There’s fear of costs and loss of power,” believes Diana Wiedmann. She, on the other hand, wants lasting change—toward a human resources management approach that puts people, rather than just the bottom line, at the center.
She takes a holistic approach, reviewing all salary bands and contracts, optimizing HR software and data management. The foundation was already in place when she joined Drees & Sommer. The partner-led consulting company had already introduced childcare services, part-time work models, and the internal women’s network SHE. But there’s no reason to rest on these achievements. The HR leader is convinced that training opportunities, the chance to develop, and continuous learning are strong incentives for employees.
Additionally, buddy programs, job tandems, or reverse mentoring not only foster exchange but also strengthen employees’ connection to the company. “I need a company that can keep up with my energy level and allows me to take action.” She has found that at Drees & Sommer. And that’s why it doesn’t stop at systems and processes—she is actively shaping collaboration, leadership culture, and generational transition across 63 international locations.
Diana’s pro tips for leaders: seize opportunities, stay agile and curious, be courageous, and always trust your gut feeling!
