“Giving up is not an option for me – it’s simply not in my nature,” says Dorothee Heinkel about herself.

This statement is rooted in years of experience facing challenges. When her father passed away unexpectedly, Dorothee took over the day-to-day operations of the family business. At the time, she was just 25 years old and in the middle of her studies to become a certified engineer. It was a difficult period. She encountered prejudices, faced immense pressure as the boss’s daughter, and felt responsible for the financial security of her mother and younger sister.

After defining her own goals, she made a decisive choice: “I wanted to learn something different and discover who I truly am.” She sold the company.

At Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb NRW (BLB NRW), one of the largest real estate management organizations, she quickly advanced. She was responsible for more than 300 employees. Even there, as a young woman with her own ideas, she did not always receive support. Yet, giving up was never an option for her. She fought for her own goals but, above all, for her employees—“like a lioness,” as one colleague described her.

At the engineering firm zarinfar GmbH, she experienced working with a committed and responsible team. Here, she had the opportunity to work creatively and independently on problem-solving while shaping leadership in her own way. A high standard of performance, openness to change, and empathy—this is what she values most.

Dorothee Heinkel enjoys working hard—she sets high standards for herself and values independence and autonomy. And now, she is charting her own professional path…

With the consulting firm she founded, feminique consulting, Dorothee has found a way to contribute her extensive experience, leadership approach, and sparring skills in many different areas.
