After completing her newspaper traineeship, Elke Schneiderbanger gained experience as a presenter, editor and editor-in-chief at various radio stations and as a television presenter at Bayerischer Rundfunk, SAT.1 and ZDF. In 1996, she joined radio NRW, where she took on the roles of Managing Director and Programme Director. From June 2010 to December 2023, Elke Schneiderbanger was Managing Director of ARD MEDIA GmbH.
In addition to her role as Managing Director, Elke Schneiderbanger holds various mandates in the genre work. From 2011-2024, for example, she was a member of the AGMA working committee for the television genre and also represented ARD on the AGF Supervisory Board and in the AGF shareholders’ meeting, as well as being a member of the advisory boards of the German Radio Prize and the Radiozentrale.
