Ilka Petersen
Certified JournalistTelevision and Radio Presenter, NDR
I was born on May 22, 1977, in Bassum. After finishing high school, I had only one goal: to travel the world. Therefore, I started working as a flight attendant for Lufthansa and became the company’s youngest purserette two years later. Due to my onboard announcements, I landed a casting for commercial voice-overs, which led me to an internship at Energy Bremen. I graduated as a radio editor.
Following that, I pursued a degree in journalism with a focus on economics in Bremen and India. I graduated with distinction as a certified journalist.
During my studies, I regularly hosted the Saturday morning show and occasionally the morning show at Energy Bremen. I also took on modeling jobs for companies like E.O.N and Beck’s.
After my studies, I initially worked at Antenne Niedersachsen in Hanover, where I hosted the mid-morning show for Antenne Bremen.
From 2007 to 2020, I co-hosted and conceptualized the NDR2 morning show “Ponik and Petersen.” This included stage moderations at NDR2 concerts with up to 45,000 spectators. Additionally, I worked as a freelance moderator for large companies such as Union Investment and Porsche. In 2012, the morning show received the German Radio Award.
Since 2020, I have been regularly appearing on NDR television, substituting in the talk show DAS! and the NDR Info news. I also appear on the entertainment show Bingo. Additionally, I host “Große Freiheit” on the radio at NDR 90.3. I have also released an NDR podcast: “Alles auf Anfang,” which focuses on new beginnings for women over 30.
