Jasmin Lörchner

Freelance journalist, podcast host, and producer of "HerStory"
and author of „Nicht Nur Heldinnen“

Jasmin Lörchner is a freelance journalist, podcaster, and author. She studied linguistics, communication science, history, and economics at RWTH Aachen University, completed a traineeship at the Financial Times Deutschland, and has been working as a freelance journalist since 2014, focusing on historical topics. Her articles are published in Spiegel Geschichte, Der Spiegel, Mare, Geo Epoche, and PM History.

Since 2020, she has been hosting and producing the podcast “HerStory.” In the podcast, she talks about women and queer individuals who have made their mark on history – both for better and for worse – spanning different eras and cultures beyond Europe. The podcast was nominated for the Grimme Online Award in 2021 and was a nominee for the German Podcast Prize and the Smart Hero Award in 2022. Accompanying the podcast, short biographies of women and queer individuals are published on her social media channels @herstory_pod.

In March 2023, Lörchner released “Not Only Heroines.” The book features portraits of 20 women who have shaped history. It continues the approach of her podcast: presenting women’s and queer history not just as stories of heroes, but also giving space to more complex biographies.
