Since April 2015, I have been a professor for family and youth welfare law, guardianship law at the Department of Social Work at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt. My research focuses on family law, matrimonial property law with European reference, in particular the community of achievement, early help, children’s rights and child protection, and guardianship law. Until taking up the professorship, I was an attorney in my own law firm specialised in family law and medical law My extensive publications are from this field as well as from my work as an expert in the legal committee of the Bundestag, especially in the various areas of family law and family procedural law as well as inheritance law. From 2005 to 2013, I was a member of the Federal Board of the German Women Lawyers Association as Chair of the Commission on Civil, Family and Inheritance Law, Law of Other Life Communities. In private life, I am married and have two sons aged 31 and 27. When I’m not on the road for work or volunteering, I take my dog for walks in the great outdoors.
