Empowering Women in a Male dominated STEM environment - It's a Mindset
At the European Space Agency, we are Europe's leader in launching rockets and satellites which requires many of our candidates to have a strong engineering and scientific background. In my role as Human Resources Advisor, I really enjoy coaching our female staff in their approach to career management and empowering them to believe in themselves when applying for leadership roles, in both technical and non-technical domains. I am happy to share with you some of my advice which is equally relevant for applicants.

Details about the speaker Ms. Fiona Walsh
Vita: Fiona Walsh, an experienced HR professional with dual Canadian and Irish citizenship, has dedicated 24 years to the European Space Agency in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. Her roles in HR have spanned career development, performance management, merit rewards and recognition, and recruiting the best talent. A standout moment in Fiona's career is her contribution to two astronaut recruitment campaigns spanning 18 months each and encompassing a series of rigorous several selection processes. Her financial background is equally notable, having managed a fixed income security sales desk in Toronto and working in cash management at ABN AMRO Bank in Amsterdam. At ESA, Fiona is passionate about mentoring women, fostering their career advancement, and highlighting the impact that unconscious bias has on behaviours and attitudes across all genders.
