“Join in! So that we don’t face a ‘sour cucumber’ period!”

Under the hashtag #säxstreik, women from Saxony have launched this call for the state elections next Sunday. “It’s about a lot—our future. For us Saxon women, it means: Time to take matters into our own hands.”

Because:

51.6% of all eligible voters in Saxony are women.
48% of all women voted in the state election of 2019. So not even every second woman.

The initiators are convinced: “When women are well-informed, they vote with both heart and mind.” To achieve this, they surveyed the parties on issues such as women’s rights, pay equality, old-age poverty, work-family balance, violence against women, support for single parents, and many others.

The AfD and Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht did not respond to the questionnaire. The answers from the SPD, Greens, CDU, Left, and FDP Saxony are available on the campaign page.

“With humor and a touch of satire, we address stereotypes in the campaign and bring them to the public’s attention. With #SäxStreik, we want to show that we women in Saxony are strong and determined—ready to use our voices to put the ‘cucumbers’ in their place and set our issues on the agenda.”
