FOREWORD FROM NATASCHA
With great joy and pride, I present our two books on women’s careers. Remarkable women provide exclusive insights into their professional journeys, sharing inspiring stories about their successes without sweeping setbacks and failures under the rug.
“The world needs more women in leadership positions, across all industries and at all levels.”
With this idea in mind, I founded a platform in 2015 that connects women with companies that consciously do not want to—and cannot afford to—do without women. The realization grew that a more diverse working world requires not just the commitment of women themselves but the combined effort of business and society to create better conditions. Together, we must work on unconscious biases—those unspoken prejudices that still prevail. This is the motivation behind FRAUEN DES JAHRES, a work that is now in its second edition and one that is personally very close to my heart.
I want to encourage you to discover the diversity of women’s careers, be inspired, and find your own path. Because only together can we contribute to a fair and inclusive working world.
Best regards,
Natascha Hoffner

Dame Stephanie Shirley
Social Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Pioneer
“In the early 60s, when women couldn’t even open a bank account without their husband’s permission, I founded my own software company. The societal structures denied us women access to technical professions. It was an early social enterprise, an all-women company: we were pioneers in home office, job sharing, and part-time work. (…) What sets us apart as entrepreneurs and women in leadership is that we understand failure is never the end. Stay resilient, get up, smile, and start again.”

“Every failure rewards us with many lessons that no one can take away from us, as long as we get back to doing and don’t stay down. This is what I want to convey to all women who still want to achieve something in their lives. It’s about getting to know both our strengths AND our weaknesses, and even when things don’t go as planned, trusting ourselves.”

“My everyday life and work environment are still far from being as diverse as I would like them to be. Every day I am reminded anew: We still have a long way to go toward equality and equal rights. (…) We all know that change only happens when we don’t just talk about it but finally take action so that socially marginalized groups are treated equally. (…) ‘An economy can only be successful with three Ts: Technology, Talent, and Tolerance.’ To achieve this, dialogue is crucial—unbiased, open, and inquisitive.”
